We got a new kitchen table!!

We got a new kitchen table on Saturday, and I am so excited!  It's not really new--we got it used from someone who was getting rid of it, but it is new to us, and I love it so much!  It makes me want to spend more time in the kitchen cooking & baking.  It just makes me so happy!

This is our old table & chairs--it used to look a lot cuter, but it's been through a lot.  We got it for free when we got married from Jacob's brother & his wife, who were moving and didn't want to bring it with them.  It's been through a lot of moves, and it broke when we moved from Utah to Missouri, so the top isn't connected anymore to the legs.  We've been using it that way for almost 3 years, but it's been getting more and more unstable.  Screws are missing all over the place in both the table and the chairs, and the kids (and probably Jacob & I a little) have done a pretty good job of staining the once-white chair cushions.  Our biggest concern has been that it is so unsafe.  We were always worried that the kids would push or pull the top of the table over and get hurt, and we've lost our entire dinner once because the top got knocked off.

Our new table makes me so happy!  It's quite a bit bigger than our old one, and it has 6 chairs instead of 4.  And it's SO much sturdier than our other table ever was, even before it was broken or had any missing screws.  And the chairs seats are wood (the previous owner bought the removable cushions), so I don't have to worry about the kids staining and ruining the chairs!  It's perfect!  I love it so much.  It doesn't really fit into our current kitchen, but it should fit well into our new one when we move in August.

And the best part is that the kids can now play in the kitchen & on the table, which is the first thing they did when we brought the new table inside.  It's so nice not having to worry about the table falling on top of them if they touch it wrong!
